The risk of cyber attacks and incidents has increased dramatically in recent years, especially phenomena such as phishing<\/a>, malware <\/a>and ransomware<\/a> pose a major threat. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>

Cyber attacks can lead to enormous damage on a business and personal level, in fact, in a world where we work more and more digitally, it is mainly to have a functioning digital infrastructure.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>

The war in Ukraine has made it even clearer that our awareness of cyber security is far too low. That is why the initiative has come from Europe to develop the <\/span>\n Network and Information Security 2 (NIS2<\/span>\n<\/i>), this guideline is a collection of rules around the security of network and information systems.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>

The NIS2 will be implemented by October 2024 at an estimated more than 16,000 companies in Belgium that are considered to provide essential services. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>

What does the NIS2 Directive stipulate?<\/span> <\/span><\/h4>

\n In 2016, the EU already adopted the <\/span>\n<\/span>\n Directive on Security of Network <\/span>\n and<\/span>\n Information Systems<\/span>\n<\/span> (NIS Directive)<\/span> introduced.<\/span> This NIS1 was the first directive to significantly st<\/span>r<\/span>enge cybersecurity requirements for so-called ‘<\/span>essential<\/span> companies’. D<\/span>he list was short in 2016, however, and included only companies such as <\/span>water, energy and telecom companies<\/span>n.
